The purpose of this policy is to ensure the safety and well-being of all learners, staff, and visitors at El Saadi College by providing clear procedures for responding to emergencies and conducting safe evacuations.

Parents, guardians, and visitors on school premises
Policy Statement
El Saadi College is committed to maintaining a safe learning environment and responding promptly and effectively to emergencies. All staff members are required to understand and follow emergency and evacuation procedures at all times.
Types of Emergencies
The school recognises, but is not limited to, the following emergencies:
Fire
Medical emergencies
Severe weather
Gas leaks
Security threats
Any situation posing immediate danger
Emergency Preparedness
The school will ensure:
Clearly marked emergency exits
Evacuation routes displayed in classrooms
Accessible and stocked first-aid kits
Emergency contact numbers readily available
Fire extinguishers where required and accessible
Evacuation Procedures
In the event of an evacuation:
Educators will remain calm and guide learners safely.
Learners will line up and exit the building quickly and quietly.
No personal belongings will be collected.
Educators will take attendance registers with them.
Learners will assemble at the designated assembly point.
Attendance will be taken immediately to ensure all learners are accounted for.
No one may re-enter the building until declared safe by management or emergency services.
Roles and Responsibilities
7.1. Educators and Staff
Supervise and guide learners during emergencies
Ensure no child is left behind
Administer basic first aid if trained
Report incidents to school management
7.2. School Management
Coordinate emergency responses
Contact emergency services when required
Notify parents or guardians as soon as possible
Ensure emergency procedures are reviewed and updated
Medical Emergencies
First aid will be administered immediately.
Emergency medical services will be contacted if necessary.
Parents/guardians will be notified without delay.
A child will not be transported by staff unless in extreme circumstances and with authorisation.
Fire Safety
Fire drills will be conducted periodically.
Open flames and unsafe electrical equipment are prohibited.
Staff and learners will be familiarised with fire safety procedures.
. Lockdown and Security Situations
Learners will be kept calm and supervised.
Access points will be secured if necessary.
Instructions from management and emergency services will be followed.
. Training and Drills
Staff will receive orientation on emergency procedures.
Evacuation drills will be conducted at least once per term.
Procedures will be explained to learners in an age-appropriate manner.
. Record Keeping
All emergencies and drills will be documented.
Records will be kept securely by school management.

This policy will be reviewed annually or when circumstances require.
